to study these organisms.
IBM researchers are building small, autonomous,
artificial intelligence robotic microscopes that can monitor plankton, better
understand their behavior, and how they respond to environmental changes, and
predict water supply threats.
The microchip of the microscope can capture the
shadow of plankton to produce a healthy digital sample without focusing.
In the next five years, these microscopes
will be advanced enough to analyze and interpret data locally and in real time.
